WOW. 1st Quarter is over already.
In class on October 21st (as well as in all of the Jaguar Express newsletters that have been sent home), ALL students were told that the WINTER CONCERT will be held on December 15, 2009 at 7pm here at TJMS. This is a MANDATORY performance for ALL band students. ALL. Not some. ALL. EVERY student must and will play, even if it’s just Mary Had a Little Lamb. The performance is worth 700 points and will take up approximately 50% of the classwork grade. There are no excuses for missing this outside of what PGCPS’s official attendance policy considers to be legal excuses. Parents, please be mindful of the date. Remember – you are your child’s best teacher first. If you schedule things (especially forms of recreation) on dates of performances, you are teaching your child that school is not important and grades are not important.
Thank you.
Please be aware – your first playing test on concert Bb major scale (7th grade) will be given next week.
In addition, PGCPS’s grading policy for instrumental music will be changing soon. Details will be sent home in writing at the start of second quarter.
