Student Code of Conduct

PGCPS Student Code of Conduct: Download It

Parents, Students and Guardians:

Please understand that all students are responsible for their behavior according to this document at all times related to school or a school event (at the bus stop, on the bus to school or an event, on the way home from school on the bus and any time your child is on PGCPS property, even if they do not attend that particular school).

Violation of the Code will result in disciplinary actions appropriate to each level of infraction by the student. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with it so that you will better understand what is expected of your child and the standard he/she is being held to in our building.

Citations

The administrators and teachers at Thomas Johnson Middle School, as a way to keep students’ discipline at a minimum, has implemented the Citation System, which is basically a warning ticket that students will receive when they are in violation of school-wide and/or classroom expectations. Please always sign the citation and return it to your child’s teacher the next day. Receiving a citation will help your child not to receive a referral. However, once they receive a specified number a referral may be the next result.

Students may receive citations for any of the following reasons (and this list is NOT exhaustive):

Out of Dress Code (Belt, Shoes, Socks, Slacks, Shirt)
Inappropriate Language/Disrespectful/Argumentative and/or Rude
No supplies/No Books
Cheating on Test
Inappropriate Touching/Physical Contact
Loud and Disruptive Behavior (class or school)
Throwing Objects

Consequences range from a verbal warning by a teacher or administrator, teacher/student conference, parent/teacher/student conference, team conference to the student being referred to the Student Success Room, Saturday School and eventually an Administrative Referral.

Help us to better serve your child by reminding your child to be in compliance with the code of conduct. Parents, Teachers and Administrators working together can continue to make TJMS a GREAT school!!!
