Principal's Welcome

From the Principal’s Pen……

Enthusiastically,I welcome every student, parent/guardian, and member of our community
to Thomas Johnson Middle School. The start of this 2009 – 2010 academic school year will be a challenging but exciting one, as students will learn to think analytically and critically about text and the world around them. I am so proud to be the new principal of Thomas Johnson Middle School. It is my hope that we, inclusive of all stakeholders, can work harmoniously together to build a culture of high expectations where everyone will be held accountable for the success of our students. My vision for Thomas Johnson Middle School is that our school will become a school of excellence and continues to be a lighthouse school for our county, state, and nation.
Truly, every scholar comes FIRST with me. They are my priority.

I have been involved in public education for approximately 16 years. My career started off as a substitute teacher, and I have worked faithfully to obtain the position of principal. Although this is my first year as principal of Thomas Johnson Middle School, I have been an elementary and middle school principal, elementary, middle and junior high school teacher, and a high school assistant principal. I am an instructional leader, a writer, an educational consultant, and now a published author. I was also that student who did not always make all A’s, but I was always determined and worked hard to achieve the goals that I set for myself.

It is my firm belief that the students of Thomas Johnson Middle School can and will achieve greatness. When our children reach the point of high school graduation, I want them to select the school and/or career of their choice and not have the school and/or career to select them based on their abilities and skills.

The school’s motto is Every Scholar, Every Class, Every Day. As a professional, it is what I also firmly believe. I want to work diligently
to make our school a place that the students, the parents, and the community will be proud to call “their school.”

I am challenging every parent or guardian to take an ACTIVE part in his or her child’s education. Together, we make the impossible seem possible; together, I want to ensure that our children succeed at the optimum level.

Welcome to TJMS – Home of the Jaguars! Welcome to success!

Sincerely,

Dr. Michael Robinson

Principal
